We were recognized, for the ninth consecutive year, as a world benchmark in sustainability in the building materials sector, according to the Dow Jones Global Index (DJSI). Together with Grupo Argos, we position ourselves as leaders among 38 companies in the industry. In addition, we were featured in the Latin American Integrated Market (MILA) - Pacific Alliance.

Due to our good environmental, economic and social practices, we obtained the highest qualification in the categories: Materiality, Risk Management, Institutional Relationship, Environmental Report, Water Risk Management, Climate Change Strategy, Social Report, Labor Practices and Human Rights.

“En Argos recibimos con gran satisfacción este resultado que nos posiciona como referente mundial y reitera nuestro compromiso con el cierre de brechas y la implementación de buenas prácticas en materia social, ambiental, financiera y de gobierno corporativo. Esto nos impulsa a seguir avanzando en la creación de valor social para construir los sueños de vivienda e infraestructura de millones de personas». María Isabel Echeverri, Legal and Sustainability Vice President.

For its part, Celsia stood out in the global ranking as the best in its industry in Colombia and the eighth in the world.

Some of the actions that led us to be recognized:

  • Recently, we shared our commitment to mitigating climate change through two challenging goals: reduce, by 2030, CO emissions2 by 29% in cement operations and, by 2050, offer carbon neutral concrete, aligned with the Net Zero ambition of the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA).
  • So far in 2021, we have three credits linked to the performance of ESG indicators.
  • We implement different sustainable transport alternatives such as: train, hybrid mixer trucks, gas-powered tractors and electric trucks.
  • Green Sack Program, which consists, through reverse logistics, in the collection of the sacks used by our clients and then deliver them to companies that will use them.
  • Use of calcined clays and other supplementary cementing materials for the preparation of low carbon cements.
  • Purchase of electrical energy from renewable sources, such as the solar farm in Honduras and the purchase of electrical energy in Colombia with 100% renewable energy certification.

For more than 20 years, the Dow Jones Sustainability Index has evaluated companies in 58 economic sectors and 27 countries based on sustainability criteria. This year the standards of around 3.500 of the largest companies in the world were studied according to their market capitalization.
