Dominica is referred to as the Nature Isle of the Caribbean with many eco-tourism sites, hiking trails and natural attractions

Recently, instead of sitting around for the ‘long’ Easter weekend, Team Argos Dominica set out on a 45 minutes hike (90 minutes both ways) to the Boeri Lake. The Boeri Lake is Dominica’s second largest lake and is located at about 2,800 ft in elevation and is located in the crater of an old volcano. The lake is about 135 ft at the deepest point, it is almost circular in shape, and has a maximum surface area of about 4 acres. Amazingly, the river flowing from the Boeri lake enters the sea alongside the Argos’ Terminal.

The hike is classified as moderate and provides panoramic views of Dominica’s landscape. Besides the wonderful landscape, during the hike, Team Argos Dominica was treated to the crystal-clear streams (we drank water directly from the streams), warm and cold springs, ‘fresh’ air, cool temperatures, montane forest, and elfin woodlands. We were blessed to experience perfect weather on the day of the hike. It is not unusual to have frequent downpours in the interior of the island. As a matter of fact, annual rainfall in the area of the Boeri lake can be as high as 9,000 mm (354 in) of rain per year.

The hike ended with lunch at the Freshwater Lake, a nearby lake. The hike provided an opportunity to encourage social interaction among employees. No doubt, the members of Argos Dominica Team have proven themselves to be physical fit!
