Our Tampa Cement in the USA was certified for a pollinator garden, Osprey nesting platform, and avian bird survey program.  The avian bird survey program is a partnership with the Tampa Audubon Society, and we provide access to our plant for the Society to conduct their necessary bird counts.

To be certified by the WHC, our operations had to demonstrate that they have a meaningful wildlife habitat management and conservation education program. Their habitats to be certified locally, the projects had to exceed any regulatory requirements already established, provide third-party credibility, produce an aggregated metric for reporting and demonstrate a long-term commitment to managing quality habitat for wildlife, conservation education and community outreach initiatives.

The Wildlife Habitat Certification (WHC) is the only voluntary sustainability standard designed for broad-based biodiversity enhancement and conservation education activities on corporate landholdings. The Conservation Certification recognizes a wide range of projects that include native landscaping, mangrove restoration, butterfly monitoring, sustainable hunting to control deer populations, Ph.D. projects and community Earth Day events. The WHC is a 2-year certification in which we have to continue monitoring and meeting objectives to maintain it.

Argos in the United States pursued the certifications granted by the WHC for around 18 plants, including cement plants and terminals.
