As of August 2021, Joint efforts between the Cement, Ready Mix and IT departments resulted in a more simplified process that allows the Ready-mix Plant manager to receive the cement manual bill of lading’s immediately upon receipt of the material. This is a considerable improvement from having to wait for the cement to finalize the BOL within the system.  

Manual bill of lading (BOL) from cement is not uncommon for a multitude of reasons. In the past Ready-Mix plant managers would be unable to receive a cement manual bill of lading until it cleared some other obstacles within the system; this process could take days. This caused a significant burden on the plant managers, who were required to track these tickets at the plant level manually.

Although this doesn’t eliminate the root cause for the need and use of manual tickets, it does remove the burden from the RMX plant managers and moves the process to the RMX material monitors to coordinate with cement. This process utilizes a more efficient back-office process and enables the plant managers to focus on our Customers, Drivers, and the plant manager’s other daily tasks.

The new process also puts visibility in the system by giving cement visibility to what is pending and providing reports for ready mix, enabling them to see what is currently in error to effectively correct inventory.
