The hardworking team at the Argos Smithfield Ready-Mix plant in North Carolina performed well during an early morning pour with Dutchland inc. at the Grifols Pharmaceutical Plant in Clayton, NC.

In North Carolina, Grifols footprint has grown in recent years. Grifols opened a $400 million plasma-fractionation plant in Clayton in 2014. It also has a bioscience division headquarters facility in Research Triangle Park that employs more than 400 people.

Back in 2020, Grifols announced their plans to expand again, investing $351.6 million to build a specialized blood plasma facility in Clayton, NC. Part of this expansion included a new three story, 150,000-square-foot purification and filling facility. The facility is estimated to cost a total of $120 million dollars and will mainly produce immune globulin and factor VIII protein therapies.

For our part, so far, the Smithfield team, along with Southern Concrete Pumping, has delivered 675 cubic yards of a special 4000 psi air entrained mixture for the new reservoir pads. We are so thankful to Dutchland and Grifols Pharmaceutical for choosing us to aid them in the construction of their new facility.
