Conservation:

Our Roberta plant has played a significant role in our commitment to reducing the amount of CO2 produced from our operations. They have also worked to improve the land around the plant with their award winning LKD (Lime Kiln Dust) Reclamation Project, taking the uncovered and Unstable LKD pile and turning it into a thriving ecosystem. In recognition of their commitment, we are excited to announce that they have been selected as Air Conservationist of the Year by the Board of Directors of the Alabama Wildlife Federation!

The purpose of the Governor’s Conservation Achievement Awards program is to promote leadership by example and in turn increase conservation of the natural resources of the State of Alabama – its wildlife, forests, soils, water, and air. The program is designed to bring about a greater knowledge and awareness of conservation practices and projects, and to give proper recognition to those persons and organizations that make outstanding contributions to the natural resource welfare of the community and the state.

Safety:

The Roberta ELITE Team participated in the DEKRA Safety In Action safety conference held in Dallas, Texas a few weeks ago. They were invited to the conference as guest speakers as a panel during one of the breakout sessions. The room was full (standing room only) with participants standing in the hallway. The session ran over with participants staying long after the scheduled panel discussion in order to ask our ELITE Team questions.

The Roberta ALERT Team as they brought home several awards, including 1st Place overall from the 2022 Surface Mine & First Responders Competition held in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. This competition was sponsored by MSHA. A reflection of all the hard work the team puts into training. The competition was a four-day training and competition is a premier opportunity for mining professionals to practice life-saving skills and learn safety leadership. Teams as far as Nevada participated in the competition.

The ALERT Team puts in countless hours of training. We never want to have or be in any emergency situation. However, if something does occur (personal health, safety incident, natural disaster, etc.) the ALERT Team is trained and prepared.

Congratulations ALERT members:
