On Wednesday, we held a virtual ceremony where we came together to celebrate teamwork and recognize outstanding plant achievements. Winners were chosen based on their extraordinary effort and commitment to the implementation of new and better environmental, social, production and health and safety practices. Three operations stood above the rest and were awarded as winners of the first ever Green Plant award.
More than 40 cement plants, concrete divisions and grinding plants were evaluated, considering these indicators:
Environmental:
- In cement: CO2 emissions and water consumption indicators.
- Specifically: Water consumption indicator.
Community Relations:
- Implementation of actions that contribute to the generation of value for the neighboring communities. Not having complaints for more than 60 days without responding was one of the most valued points.
SISO:
- Green Days: Total days per year + days with disabling incidents.
- Total Injury Rate: Lost Time Incidents + Medical Treatment Incidents + First Aid/Total Man Hours Worked x 1,000,000.
Production:
- In Cement: Thermal + electrical consumption + time/man hours worked + reliability.
- Specifically: Electrical consumption + m3/man hours worked + reliability.
Our 2020 Green Plant winners:
Best Cement Plant: Roberta Plant.
Best Concrete Division or Zone: Suriname.
Best Grinding Plant: French Guiana.
The below operations were runner-ups and had the best scores at their regional levels:
- Regional USA: Atlanta Grinding Plant.
- Regional Colombia: Sogamoso Cement Plant.
- Regional CCA: French Guiana Grinding Plant
There is no doubt that this recognition is a tribute to the strategic vision, excellent performance and conviction of our teams to reinvent themselves every day to contribute to the sustainability and success of our company.
