Argos is proud to be a part of a multi-phased, $198 million dollar project to improve drainage and reduce the frequency, severity, and duration of flooding for the Spring and Fishburne basins in and around Charleston, South Carolina. Construction began in 2009, and the overall structure is not expected to be complete until sometime in 2023. Once completed, however, this project will move water from the surface through a network of surface collection pipes, vertical drop shafts, and deep tunnels to a pump station where it will ultimately end up in the Ashley River.

According to the United States National Weather Service, these areas in and around Charleston flood from hurricanes and above-average rainfall nearly eight times a year. This is why this project is so vital to the community.

The goal is a 20% reduction in the duration, frequency, and severity of flooding caused by moderate to heavy rainstorms along the Septima Clark Parkway and throughout the Spring Street and Fishburne Street drainage basins by summer 2022.

Currently, Argos is providing concrete for stage four of five, which includes the construction of the wet well and outfall portion of the pump station adjacent to the Ashley River.

We are proud to help with the development of one of the communities Argos calls home, and we look forward to continuing to help our communities make their dreams realities.
