Argos is finding its new normal after an entire year of changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the past few weeks, Argos has launched several hiring events for CDL drivers across the USA region.
In late April and early May , our RMX teams in the Carolinas hosted four virtual job fairs as a way to minimize any risk of spreading COVID-19. Using an online website called Job News, our Carolinas team had over one hundred and thirty-six interested candidates to interview. By the end of the process they had six confirmed new hires and were still working on several more applications.
Both our Georgia and Texas markets were able to host live events outdoors, thanks to pleasant weather.
In Georgia, we held one large recruitment session at our driver training session at the Atlanta Training Center. This job fair was well advertised using many different methods including flyers, signs and even commercials on the radio!
Our team out in Texas had a few busy weeks. They were able to hold a total of six hiring events spread out across the state, including Mellisa, Fort Worth, Houston, Richmond, South Lake, and Irving Texas!

These events were also filled with precautions to help ensure everyone’s safety including, hosting the event outdoors, requiring masks, promoting social distancing and thoroughly sanitizing high touch areas. These were the first of their kind since the pandemic, and our teams had to adjust their usual methods to help ensure the safety of all of those in attendance.

Each event required a rigorous interview process to ensure that each candidate that applied would be well suited for their position and had to go through three levels of interviews in order to be offered a position on the spot. To start each candidate’s process, they first had to meet with one of our hiring team members for pre-screening to ensure they held all the proper licensing and experience required to drive one of our ready-mix trucks.

The next step of the process consisted of a road test administered by one of our fantastic driver trainers. During this step, our candidates would get the chance to operate one of our trucks and demonstrate a number of feats the trainers asked them to perform. In order to help minimize the risk of COVID-19, masks and sanitizer were both utilized during this exercise.

After passing the road test, our candidates would then begin the final interview with one of our hiring staff to ensure that they will be able to perform all their duties to Argos’ standard. If our candidates were able to make it through all three levels of our hiring process, then they would be offered a position on the spot providing they were able to pass their physical and drug screening test.

We are happy to announce that each and every one of our driver hiring events was successful! We are so happy to see our Argos family of workers grow!
