Argos gives the green light to the first liquefied natural gas power plant in Antigua

Our cement played a key role in the construction of Antigua’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) power plant. This innovative project is not only a milestone for Antigua, but for the Caribbean as a whole. It will power a 40 MW LNG-fired power plant in Antigua, and significantly improve the island’s power grid by providing a more reliable and environmentally friendly energy supply.

On Tuesday July 27th 2021, Antigua Power Company Maintenance and Operations Limited (APCMOL), Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) and Eagle LNG came together to officially launch the region’s first LNG terminal project, and we are proud to have been part of it.

We are a key player in a major European construction project

We have been selected as a key supplier for one of Europe’s most important infrastructure projects: the construction of the new Larivot bridge in French Guiana.

We have committed to delivering 9.000 tonnes of cement and 3.000 tonnes of other cementitious materials for the completion of this mega-project.

Since 2023, we have already delivered over 2.000 tonnes of cement and 750 tonnes of other cementitious materials.

With a length of 1.300 metres, piles 50 metres deep and a diameter of 1.60 metres, this bridge is considered to be one of the most important engineering structures underway in Europe.

Once inaugurated, it is estimated that more than 15.000 vehicles will be able to use the bridge every day, considerably improving connectivity in the region’s ever-growing population.

We supplied 85% of the product required for the construction of Disney's new cruise ship pier

In total, we supplied 9.115 metric tons of cement, all in 1.5-ton big bags, exclusively from Zona Franca in Cartagena, as part of our operations in Puerto Rico.

Our first cement delivery took place on July 6th, 2022, and we completed the last delivery on March 26th, bringing the number of successful exports to nine.

The pier, which is just over 700 metres long, required a total of 9,115.50 tonnes of cement, of which we supplied 85%, consolidating our position as the main source of supply for this project.

This success underlines our commitment and ability to manage major infrastructure projects, and strengthens our presence in the international market.

The Kairos project, at the Najayo Plant, in the Dominican Republic, never ceases to amaze us

In August, we achieved significant milestones on the Kairos project, successfully completing the excavation of civil works and pouring the initial foundation. We also
received the necessary equipment from Argo IPS and secured the construction license from the Vice-Ministry of Standards, Regulations, and Procedures. In the next stages, we will focus on pouring the pedestals and the completion slab.

The expansion is intended to increase production capacity by 25%.
