In 2023, the Newberry Quarry department honed their operators’ abilities to exceed industry standards by participating in Level 2 Operator certification training. This initiative encompassed Bulldozer, Excavator, Wheel Loader, and Road-Grader operations.
This training aimed to hone the operators’ abilities, ensuring they not only meet industry standards but exceed them. Eight operators spent 256 hours getting certified, and four operators from the Production department dedicated 64 hours to the training.
By investing in the skill development of operators, the Newberry Quarry department has successfully reduced idle time and unnecessary fuel consumption. This not only contributes to a more sustainable approach to operations but also translates into substantial cost savings over time.
Looking ahead to 2024, Newberry Quarry is sticking to its commitment to improvement. They’re focusing on optimizing operations and handling materials better in the production department. This ongoing training ensures they stay ahead in the ever-changing world of heavy machinery operations.
