At Argos, the safety of our employees is our top priority. We want to make sure that everyone gets to go home safe at the end of every shift. That is why we would like to congratulate all of our teammates at our Tampa Plant on achieving 5,000 days without having an LTI! We are so proud of everyone’s hard work and dedication to making Argos a safe place to work. This is a milestone that doesn’t come around every day. 5,000 days roughly equates to thirteen and a half years, over a decade of safety. When we heard this exciting news, we just had to know how everyone was able to achieve this goal. We reached out to Terry Bennett, the plant manager, and he had this to say:

“It isn’t just one factor that allows us to achieve this milestone. I would say that it is all in the way that you treat people and deliver the message. If you treat your employees with respect and they know that they matter, they will want to perform and contribute. If you treat them poorly, then they won’t want to participate in anything at all. In Tampa, it would be hard for someone from the outside to determine who is hourly and who is the staff. We all do what we have to so that the plant prospers, we can supply our customers with a good product and provide a safe and secure working environment for all employees. It would not be uncommon to see anyone from staff or hourly jump on a sweeper, shovel a spill, or pack bags when needed, and for doing that, you gain a lot of respect. We are a team here in Tampa, so we work together. 

We have many long-term employees here which helps, but we began to see some turnover over the past three years. We hold daily safety meetings, and we strive to ensure the message is a good one. We always stress safety to our employees while they are on the job as well. I ask my supervisors, coordinators and managers to spend a lot of time in the field talking to their employees and stress the importance of safety.”

Again, we would like to drive home how proud we are of each and every one of you. You are the main characters in Argos’ story, and we would like to thank you for representing Argos so well. We look forward to 5,000 more LTI free days! Keep up the excellent work Tampa Team!
