At Argos, we see climate change as a challenge and as an opportunity for our direct operations and their value chain. Therefore, we are committed to mitigate direct and indirect CO2 emissions, generate the necessary capacities to adapt to its impacts and to make up for it through our corporate group’s volunteer planting initiatives. This will contribute to the competitiveness and resilient growth of both the company and its stakeholders.
Our current commitment is to reduce our CO2 emissions by 29% for every ton of cement we produce by 2030 and to offer carbon-neutral concrete by 2050, within the framework of the Global Cement and Ready-Mix Concrete Association’s GCCA initiative:
- Reducing caloric consumption per kilogram of clinker produced.
- The reduction of the cement clinker factor.
- The substitution of at least 33% of conventional fuels for alternative fuels by 2030.
Innovative actions carried out within the framework of this purpose:
- For more than 10 years we have been working on reducing our footprint and have decreased our CO2 emissions by 14 % from the baseline.
- We signed the Business Ambition for 1.5°C agreement, under which our CO2 emissions reduction target and the plan to achieve it will be independently evaluated and approved under the Science-Based Targets initiative (SCBTi).
- We are part of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) initiative through which we report our performance related to climate change mitigation and adaptation.
