This month, we are excited to feature Maggie Hadley, Talent Acquisition Manager for the Ready-Mix Business Unit. She was nominated by her team for outstanding leadership, unwavering support, and her ability to foster growth!

We asked Maggie a few questions about her leadership experiences to get to know her better.

  1. What inspired you to become a leader in your field or organization?

As a leader, I can make changes, drive progress, and have a meaningful impact on my team. A driver spotted me at a meeting a few months ago. He said, «Mrs. Maggie! You hired me three years ago as a driver during COVID, and now I am a plant manager. I want to shake the hand of the voice that hired me over the phone.» These kinds of interactions are what it’s all about: Our people! Being a leader allows me to elevate our team members and prepare them for career success.

  1. What leadership style do you most identify with, and how does it influence your decision-making?

I would consider myself a combination of Democratic and Servant Leadership, meaning I value team member input in the decision-making process. It is essential that people feel and are part of the outcome. I have a people-first approach. With care, empathy and kindness, people will feel inspired to follow, and together, we can find a solution to any problem we may face.

  1. What advice would you give to aspiring leaders looking to make a positive impact in their respective fields?

As a leader, you have a significant impact on business decisions, meaning you have a responsibility to your organization’s people. Care about the people you are leading! Have a positive attitude, even when it gets challenging. Do not be afraid to be outside your comfort zone and challenge others to do the same. Progress and change are made here. Be ready to shift and react to new challenges; be flexible and adapt. I am telling you right now you will make mistakes. It’s okay! Give yourself grace, assess what went wrong and learn from the mistake.
