ENVIRONMENTAL:

The Martinsburg Plant has been working with the USDA and the 167th Air National Guard on the management of Black Vultures, an invasive species of Raptors. In late 2020, the plant received a Certification from the Wildlife Habitat Council for the project. The project continues as they work with a third party to monitor the GPS data collected from the tracking program. The data will be used to better understand how the birds nest, migrate and travel across the East Coast.

In 2021, the Martinsburg Plant started their own Pollinator and Vegetable Garden. This was a joint effort of the whole Martinsburg team as employees brought in seeds from their own gardens to assist with the start up of the garden.

SAFETY:

As with all our facilities and plants, Martinsburg values all of it’s team members and work diligently to create a safe work environment. By developing strong safety practices, the Martinsburg Plant achieved 1,000 days without a Lost Time Incident (LTI) on November 1, 2021.

COMMUNITY:

The Martinsburg Plant plays a huge part in helping the local community. The plant not only brings many jobs into the community but also helps support local charities with monetary donations, as well as donations of goods such as water, food, and clothing.

Here is a small list of the groups and charities that received monetary donations in 2021:

Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce, Women’s Network Sponsorship, Leadership in Berkeley County, Annual Corporate Cup, Boys and Girls Club, Hospice of the Eastern Panhandle, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, and Panhandle Home Health.

In addition, Martinsburg provides funds for two local scholarships: The Blue Ridge Scholarship and The Rotary Service Scholarship. The team also donates money to Shepherd University located in Shepherdstown, WV to assist with their tuition assistance program.

Our martinsburg team also collected hats and gloves from employees and donated them to a local group called: Warm Hearts Warm Hands. The company donated food and supplies to the local VFW for their Thanksgiving celebration.
