The first certification came from our Cordele Cement Terminal for their nesting sanctuary for bluebirds. In addition to several new birdhouses, birdbaths, fruit trees, and pollinator gardens have been installed to provide food, shelter, and water for the adult bluebirds.
Our team believes establishing a bluebird habitat is vital to maintaining their population. Bluebirds have lost most of their habitats and have a lot of competition for nesting sites. Installing bird boxes on the property protected from other birds and predators will help the local population recover.
Our second certification comes from our Newnan Cement Terminal for its dedication and efforts in establishing a thriving pollinator garden.
The pollinator garden project has been very successful, and the Argos Newnan Terminal decided to expand the garden in 2020. Using recycled materials, our team was able to add new gardens to the project. All of the nectar species of plant life were observed in bloom, which attracted several different pollinator species. Caterpillars were documented in the gardens, which means the target nectar and host plants meet the needs of the local butterfly population.
These pollinator gardens are simple and practical tools to help strengthen our environment. By providing pollinators with the resources they need to grow and thrive, we can help support the natural ecosystem.
