Normally we talk about the export of cement and other materials, but in this edition we will talk about the export of aggregates and how we offer extraordinary solutions to clients outside our borders.

At Argos we not only sell cement, we sell solutions for the construction industry; An example of this is the export of aggregates that allows us to bring solutions to customers that would otherwise be complex and inefficient, but with the timely management of resources we make it possible.

One of our clients in the Caribbean has certain needs that cannot be covered from his geographical position, and actions such as importing a good may be uncomfortable and, in some cases, even impossible. From the Caribbean and Central America region, we have managed the shortage of barges, positioning ourselves not only as suppliers of excellent quality cementitious material, but also as suppliers of complex solutions that include aggregates, blocks, steel, among others.

But it is in the aggregates, specifically in stones, where we have grown in a vertiginous way. We started with hundreds of tons, and now we are approaching values ​​close to 100,000 tons. This has only been possible with a team that combines, in a phenomenal way, the client's need for a specific aggregate, with the cement and the use of the appropriate vessels.

“The entry of Argos Puerto Rico to the Turks & Caicos Islands in 2016 represented a logistical challenge never before faced in the introduction of our products in new markets. Draft limitations at the destination, plus the geographical advantage of our competitors, which serve the market from the Dominican Republic, located a fraction of the distance from Puerto Rico, made it impossible to deliver cement from our terminal in San Juan.

This situation motivated the initiative to use large barges to achieve economies of scale by consolidating cement shipments with aggregates (gravel and sand) and even blocks, thus facilitating the arrival of our cement at a competitive cost, At the same time, increasing our portfolio of services and generating additional profitability for our exports. This initiative was called "New Horizons", which has been expanding, covering, although on a smaller scale, other markets such as Tortola and Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands.

Without a doubt, exports of aggregates, among other materials, have contributed to strengthening relationships with our customers, providing them with comprehensive solutions, while increasing our cement sales capacity, generating economic benefits from other items for our operation, and contributing with the growth of suppliers of local materials.”
